Scaling a Design Process.
Creating a scaleable system for product sprints.
1). With 500 parts and part type categories released a month, proper awareness didn't exist.
2). To create a campaign for one part type category used to take one to two whole months.
3). So much time opening and closing an array of programs, which slowed down any productivity.
The primary user of our products is the service technicians. They're the people who work on your vehicles. When the car enters the garage bay for repair, it is usually because of some failure from the original equipment manufacture. Since that is the part that has failed, they don't want to replace the failed component with the same OEM product. Our automotive engineered solutions allow them to replace the part at higher quality, and sometimes lower cost.
Once the product brief was written and agreed to between the product teams and our content team, the creative/content project manager takes the brief and begins delegating the tasks. We separate each product sprint into three categories: paid media, owned media, and channel support. Our in-house video and photography teams would take all appropriate imagery we would need based upon the brief given. Once all the assets are acquired, the first step in the content generation wheel is the product sale sheet. Once approved, the additional 50 tasks can start.
What used to happen is that the buckets divided up between myself and one other creative on the team, and we would commence; this became problematic due to the difference in how to create assets.
What I did was create one XD template with components and templated out each of the tasks with quick photo drop and go, and changing headlines and subheads in only one place, which then flows throughout.
Through the creation of this templated program, I was able to create a whole campaign or product sprint from what used to take an entire month or two to do, down to 16 hours. Setting this up, we now gave back precious time to our design team, and we can take this program. For 2020 year I've been able to contribute $1.5MM in revenue that directly relates to the added campaings of our hero SKUs.
